This new-home concrete project in Granger, Indiana included a curved colored concrete sidewalk, front porch, concrete steps, garage service entrance, driveway, garage floor and basement floor. Marc Todd Concrete completed both the exterior and interior concrete work for the home.
The curved sidewalk creates a smooth, welcoming transition between the driveway and front entrance. Its shape softens the approach to the home while providing a durable, low-maintenance walking surface for the homeowners and their guests.
The sidewalk, porch and steps were planned as a coordinated entryway that complements the home’s exterior. Adding color to the concrete gives these functional surfaces a warmer, more customized appearance than traditional gray concrete.
A light broom finish was applied to the exterior walking surfaces. This creates a clean, professional appearance while also providing practical traction for year-round use.
In addition to the colored sidewalk and front entry, the project included the home’s concrete driveway, garage floor, basement floor and garage service entrance. Completing these related areas as part of the same new-construction project allowed the elevations, entrances and concrete surfaces to be carefully coordinated.
Proper grading and elevations are especially important around new construction. Each exterior concrete area must connect correctly with the home while directing water away from the structure and helping reduce areas where water could collect.
Marc Todd Concrete uses a quality 5½-bag concrete mix for exterior flatwork. Steel reinforcing bar is installed throughout the concrete to provide additional strength and help the finished slabs withstand vehicle traffic, everyday use and Indiana’s seasonal freeze-thaw conditions.
