Marc Todd Concrete installs concrete sidewalks and walkways for homes, businesses and other properties throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. With over 35 years of concrete experience, we build new sidewalks, replace deteriorated walks and create custom walkway layouts connecting driveways, porches, patios, entrances and other areas.
Sidewalk construction is planned around the property. Width, route, elevation, drainage, curves, steps, adjoining concrete and the selected finish all affect the completed walkway.
We install sidewalks for new construction and existing properties. Replacement projects can include removal of deteriorated concrete, preparation of the new walkway area and placement of a new sidewalk designed around surrounding grades and connections.
Sidewalks can connect a driveway to a front entrance, wrap around a home, lead to a patio or outbuilding, or provide a defined walking route. For adjoining vehicle areas, see our concrete driveway services.
We install decorative walkways using stamped concrete, colored concrete and exposed aggregate concrete. These finishes can coordinate a walkway with a porch, patio, driveway, landscape or other concrete work.
Paving bricks can be incorporated into poured concrete sidewalks as borders, bands, curves or other inlaid details, or used for complete paving-brick walkways. Learn more on our concrete paving-brick and paver service page.
Curved walkways can create a natural route through landscaping and provide a transition between a driveway, porch, patio or front entrance. We also coordinate sidewalk elevations with porch slabs, entry areas and concrete steps when they are part of the project.
Commercial sidewalks and storefront walkways require coordination with entrances, parking areas, curbs, gutters and surrounding grades. For larger business projects, visit our commercial concrete services.
Long-term sidewalk performance begins with preparation below the concrete. Existing conditions are evaluated and the walkway area is graded and prepared for consistent support. Reinforcement, thickness and other construction details are selected according to project requirements and site conditions.
Concrete is placed to planned elevations and finished for the selected application. Control joints are positioned to help manage normal concrete shrinkage and reduce uncontrolled cracking.
We consider drainage, adjoining driveways and patios, porch and door elevations, landscaping and other fixed features before placement. Exterior concrete is sloped as appropriate so water is directed toward the intended drainage area.
